Over the last 10 years or so I have wondered why Liverpool have always performed better when they go behind. This realization came to light when we first started to get managers from outside of the club to manage Liverpool.
See what St-John has to say about click this link
What I can say about the current situation is this If Liverpool are going to stay the games most celebrated club than we have to get back to the basics and that means wining games...(easy said the done right). Well look at the way Blackpool played today if we where to look at the players that where on pitch on an individual basis Liverpool has more class then Blackpool sitting on the bench right?
This is not a trick question the fact is YES we have, but it is all about the mind set of the team and the manager without question. Regardless of the Yanks and all the off pitch issues. It is on the field where it needs to be sorted, Just bear with me for a second...We all agree that the Yanks need to go, Yes, ok the best way to get rid of them is to start getting the team to do their job by winning games and the prem. Now if Liverpool had the balls that Blackpool had today then we would be well on our way to getting rid of the ham shanks.
All this season they have sat back and let teams come at us...did Liverpool do that in the 60`s 70`s and 80`s???. What a lot of younger supports may not realize is that Liverpool where the team to beat, even Sir Red Konk made it his life`s work to surpass Liverpool, now all I hear from supporters is "hope we make 4th spot".
If this is what our aim is then no one ever understood what Shankly was saying, and that sickens me to the core. It is all about mind set and believe in what you are doing.
This is something that Roy could learn from Blackpool. Getting back to what I said before, on paper are the Blackpool players better than the Liverpool players?? So it must be all about the frame of mind of the players and the manager?
We can`t go down the path of LEEDS I think we all need to focus on the real issue of Liverpool football club and that is winning football games. Ask your self do we want to be another Man city, Man U, Chelsea that buys the prem, or do we want to do it the Liverpool way and play like a team that have the passion and commitment to play for the shirt!...if you are in two minds than read up on Shankly!
Like it or not the players are effected by what is going on off the pitch, even Pepe passed comment in a recent BBC interview about this issue we are facing as a club. But one thing is for sure the players are still getting paid, and the clubs facility's are still at their disposal. So I would suggest that this is just a blimp in form as we depart the Rafa lite days and Transform into the Hodgson regency.
The fact is it does take time to rebuild a team and Roy has a big task, and in my view Rafa did not leave much to play with (besides signing Torres ). The fact is it is not the end of the season we have played only 7 games, and the funny thing is this could all turn around if one or two players in the top team sustain an injury or two. So I say lets not count ROY`S REDMEN out at this stage in the season and give him time to apply his trade.
I personally would love to see us pressure teams and play more attacking football before we go a goal or two down. We know we can play devastating football when our backs are to the wall.
YNWA Dutch Reds

Holloway makes some valid points about the game. I think he is playing a shrewd game..on one hand he is trying to be humble and at the same time he is highlighting how bad Liverpool where....I say let he have his day as they wont have many more! We will batter them at Blackpool
ReplyDelete@DutchReds, you are right lad, when you say if we play with more aggression we would win more games...we must bring the game to teams instead of letting them play!
